Christmas in Australia
by Maya, Célia, Juliette and Alice

Why did we choose this country?
We chose this country because we wanted to know more about Australian traditions and because we heard that it was in summer.

Traditons:
In Australia, neighbors like to have little competitions to see who has the best decorations.
They also like sing carols on christmas eve.
They often set off christmas crackers at meal time.
They have kangaroos instead of riendeers for father christmas's sleigh.
Father christmas wears short and T-shirts because they celebrate christmas in summmer.

How you celebrate Christmas in Mexico

           (By Sonya and Elsa)

We chose this country because we thought it looked interesting and Elsa's aunt lived in Mexico for a few years !

Traditions in Mexico
A popular tradition in Mexico is to have a Pinata ; A sort of paper maché ball with spikes coming out and if you hit it hard enough sweets will come pouring out and all the children collect them and eat them up
Yummy !!!!!!!!!!

In mexico they don't really have Santa Claus ;
Instead the children parade around the street with virgin Mary (or virgin Maria) and Joseph (Saint José) leading it ; Angels, Three Kings (Santos Reyes) shepardes and shepardesses following on !

They celebrate Christmas on the 16th of December !

Christmas in Sweden

(by Neige, Eugénie, Emeline and Alexia)
1) Why did we choose this country ?

We chose this country because we didn't know a lot about this country
and the traditions are more unique than the other countries in the world.

2) The Christmas traditions :

Another popular and important thing that many swedes  do on Christmas eve afternoon is to watch Donald Duck!!!
Every year since 1959, at 3,00 pm on Christmas eve ,the  TV station TV1 shows the Disney special  “From all of Us to All of You”
or in Swedish it's “ Kalle Anka och hans vänner önskar God Jul”meaning “Donald Duck”and his friends wish you a Merry Christmas” about 40 to 50% of the Swedish population stop to watch it!!
Families sometimes have goats made of straw in the house to guard the Christmas Tree ! Straw is used as a decoration in homes , to remind them that Jesus was born in a manger. Christmas Tree decorations that are made of straw are also very popular. In Sweden the Christmas is full of exotic spices and delicious flavors not normally associated with Sweden . Maybe the cold , dark , endless winter means doing something spunky for food and decorations .

3) The christmas food:

In sweden the night of christmas we drink glögg (muled wine)
we eat a lot of pepparkaka (gingerbread),
